Stephanie:
Hi Stephen, how are you?
Stephen:
Good morning! I’m doing fine. How are you all doing?
Stephanie:
Good, good. Thank you for being here.
To all our listeners, I’m so excited to introduce the amazing Stephen Peck — founder and executive director of Caring Men Global.
This initiative really stands out to me. It’s super special, super unique, and truly making waves.
Stephen:
Thank you.
Stephanie:
You started Caring Men Global based on your own personal experience.
Can you share your journey behind founding it and maybe some key challenges you faced along the way?
Stephen:
Of course.
Many years ago, my first wife passed away from metastatic breast cancer.
While she was being treated, I had no idea where to go for support.
There wasn’t a single place with all the information I needed—I ran from library to library, doctor to doctor. It was frustrating.
Fast forward to COVID times, when I finally had time on my hands — I decided to give back.
I wanted to create a one-stop shop for men — and women too — who needed caregiving support during a loved one’s cancer journey.
At caringmen.org, we now provide all the tools you need to be a good caregiver.
We even have a “How to Start” guide on the homepage.
Men often aren’t naturally wired for caregiving like women are, so I wanted to change that — by giving them the education they need.
Stephanie:
That’s really incredible.
What are some of the main resources or support systems you offer caregivers?
Stephen:
We cover everything you need to know about the most common types of cancer.
We explain cell types, treatment options, top institutions offering clinical trials, and much more.
Basically, you come to Caring Men Global and get a complete snapshot of how to support your loved one — without having to search endlessly for answers.
Stephanie:
That’s amazing.
How did you learn all of this yourself?
Because today you have an incredible platform, but at the time, you were just doing this alone?
Stephen:
Yes — all by myself.
I was a medic in the army, so I wasn’t intimidated by medical situations.
But I still had to ask a lot of questions, seek out resources, and piece things together through trial and error.
That’s why I wanted to make it easier for others now.
Stephanie:
It’s truly powerful.
Your mission is to make Caring Men Global the go-to source for caregiving support.
What milestones have you achieved so far? And have you had any “wow” moments along the way?
Stephen:
Definitely a few “wow” moments!
Every time someone steps up and offers help, it’s a reminder that we’re on the right path.
When you have a clear mission and vision, people want to support you — especially when it comes to cancer.
It touches everyone.
The key is staying laser-focused.
Once you know your mission, you can build your plan around it and start bringing in support.
Stephanie:
Wise words. I totally agree.
Once you have the idea locked in, execution becomes much easier.
And surrounding yourself with good people is everything.
Stephen:
Exactly.
Build a strong board. Bring advisors from different backgrounds — not just one type of expert.
You need a mix — doctors, lawyers, teachers, anyone with insight.
Even my daughters sit on my board — because they lived through it, too.
Stephanie:
That’s beautiful.
Now, since this podcast is called Nonprofit Therapy — because running a nonprofit isn’t easy —
what’s one challenge you faced, or a tip you can give our nonprofit listeners?
Stephen:
The biggest tip I can give is: ask for help.
You can’t build a nonprofit alone.
You need a team — a board, advisors, mentors — all committed to the cause.
And you need diverse perspectives to make your organization stronger.
Stephanie:
Such an important reminder.
And I’m curious — did being a medic in the army influence you at all in starting Caring Men Global?
Stephen:
It probably did, yes.
I was never afraid of dealing with medical topics.
Being a medic gave me an early understanding of how important caregiving really is.
Stephanie:
Love that.
Now — you recently partnered with Vee, and we are so thrilled to have you!
How has Vee helped Caring Men Global so far?
Stephen:
Vee has been absolutely outstanding.
The AI technology that supports content creation and social media is phenomenal.
I’m really impressed by how you capture the essence of our mission and reflect it so well in our posts.
But more than that — it’s the human touch.
You and your team, Stephanie — you really care about the nonprofits you work with.
That’s clear, and it makes a huge difference.
Stephanie:
That honestly means the world to hear.
That’s exactly why we built Vee — to help amazing missions like yours grow and reach more people.
Stephen:
You’re doing an amazing job.
Stephanie:
Thank you.
So — for everyone listening who’s been inspired by your story —
how can they get involved with Caring Men Global?
Where can they find you, email you, learn more?
Stephen:

You’ll find everything there.

I’ll respond — whether you want to volunteer, support the mission, or just learn more.
